According to the director of the Electricity Department in the districts of Saihot and Messila, Mr. Salem Al-Adli, the reason for the power interruptions experienced in the districts of Saihot and Messila for hours is due to one of the generators being out of service and the lack of diesel in the province of Mahra, South Yemen.
Adly said that a team of engineers at the institution had been working for days to repair the generator, which was out of service, pointing out that they have completed the repairs, but the increased loads made the generators unable to generate power as required.
Al Adli pointed out that the allocation of fuel for the power plant in the city is about to run out, especially that the grant from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has ended and the remaining fuel in the plant will not be enough to continue generating continuously around the clock.
Al Adly also stated that the electricity department has reduced the generation hours to avoid the complete failure of the power system due to one of the generators being non-operational and the lack of diesel quantities that are about to run out.
Al-Adly expressed his deep regret and apology to the citizens for the hardships caused by the power outage that are beyond the control of the station and the electricity institution, amid appeals to King Salman and the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to extend the grant of oil derivatives to alleviate the suffering of citizens due to repeated power cuts.
